This update makes several “tweaks” to vegetation to improve image quality in the game’s Favour Performance mode, and developer Guerrilla Games has now asked fans for their feedback. However, the game’s reported graphical issues - including shimmering, sharpening and screen saturation - are still under investigation. Other additions in this patch include an “always off” option for weapons, ammo, tools and potions on your HUD, plus dozens and dozens of bug fixes....

One of the most interesting ideas in Dragon Age 2, which was fairly criticised at the time (2011) for being rushed out and cutting corners, was that the game would take place across a number of years. It wasn’t many: it jumped one year, then three years, then another three years, each leap happening at the beginning of each major act in the game. It wasn’t rooted, as others are, in events taking place across days or weeks or months....

Maybe that perception would have changed if Nintendo hadn’t decided to part ways with DMA Design, the studio that would go on to become the all-conquering Rockstar North. But Body Harvest, the game that emerged from the curtailed relationship remains a cult favourite, and the tale behind its development contains many twists and turns. DMA began life in the late 80s, formed by Scottish entrepreneur and programmer David Jones, and initially developed games for chiefly the 16-bit computers such as the Commodore Amiga....

Inertial Drift’s an arcade racer that’s both familiar and refreshingly different; styled after the eternally slick Ridge Racer Type 4, developer Level 91’s debut distinguishes itself with a novel handling model built around a twin-stick system. It’s innovative and kind of ingenious, putting a welcome emphasis on the art of wrestling with a car that wants to live life sideways. “I’d started working on this prototype based on Ridge Racer,” Michael O’Kane, director and programmer of Inertial Drift, tells me....

The ability to fast travel is unlocked as soon as you are able to explore Night City in Act 1 - albeit in a lockdown state - though using the system isn’t as easy as selecting a point to go to from the map screen....

During the course of a mission, if an Operator fails and isn’t able to complete a level, they will be deemed MIA, and is unable to be used unless they are rescued. Failing to rescue them will still see them return to you - albeit with a few penalties. Chances are your Operators will fail over the course of playing, so it’s worth knowing how to rescue MIA Operators in Rainbow Six Extraction effectively....

A compilation shared on Reddit by user “Walter Fring” has attracted a fair bit of attention for the absurdity of some of the shots, all neatly edited into a video with jaunty Zelda music in the background. Walter Fring uses shouts like Unrelenting Force to create some mid-air snipes, at one point making a man levitate only to be shot and frozen on the way down. It feels very anime....

Princess Felicity Fish, to give her full title, has been added to Fortnite in today’s version 16.20 update, and will be made available through the game’s item shop in the very near future. This image, pulled from the game’s files, shows how the skin will look: Some background. Fishstick is perhaps Fortnite’s most popular skin, and has already spawned numerous additional versions. The original Fishstick has four variants of his own (original, pirate, futuristic and Fortnite World Cup) before Epic Games started releasing all-new Fishstick versions separately....

The game is floating atop the UK physical charts as the biggest new entry (thanks gamesindustry.biz). Launch sales alone make it the fifth biggest ever Kirby game in the UK, behind Wii title Kirby’s Adventure. Forgotten Land launched on Friday 25th March and has already sold 2.5 times the number of copies as the previous top Kirby launch, 2018’s Kirby Star Allies on Switch. Kirby may be one of Nintendo’s smaller franchises, but it’s clear this new release - the series’ first 3D game - is proving popular....

Developer TT Games said it needed more time to make Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which was due out spring 2021 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, “the biggest and best ever Lego game.” The Skywalker Saga was first revealed at E3 2019 and was initially expected to come out in late 2020, but in August it was delayed to spring 2021....

Titled as Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, this game will follow the story of former gangster Kiryu Kazuma from the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life up until Like a Dragon 8. A trailer was released, showing Kiryu being disciplined at a monastery, having seemingly renounced all of his former life, before it’s revealed that Kiryu is in fact still involved with the Daidoji family from Yakuza 6....

I’m currently reviewing the Switch remaster of Squaresoft classic Live A Live, which is essentially an RPG derived from a level-select cheat. The appropriate comparison isn’t Sonic 2, of course, but director Takashi Tokita’s later and more famous Chrono Trigger. Like Chrono, Live A Live sends you tunnelling through time, from cartoon prehistory through imperial China to a quaint far future where AI is commonplace but mobile phones are unheard of....

That’s the question answered by YouTube channel 64 Bits with its latest video that blends the two games together in a beautiful demake. The video reimagines BioWare’s classic sci-fi epic as a top-down strategy title. Sadly it’s not actually playable, but it’s wonderfully crafted. Though the game’s full title is Advance Effect: Legendary Edition, the video focuses on the iconic Virmire mission from Mass Effect. The story twists play out with cute character portraits and miniature sprites....

The game is from developer Everstone Games and is an open world action RPG set in the Ten Kingdoms period of medieval China. The game was revealed with a stunning looking trailer that showed off its lush setting of bamboo forests, snow covered mountains, and other surreal areas. Here’s some background on that setting: “It takes place during the twilight of the Ten Kingdoms, the very era when an entire dynasty could crumble in a blink of an eye....

Originally scheduled for yesterday, Blizzard informed players via its forums they have pushed the patch back due to a “critical issue”. The patch is now planned for tomorrow, 17th November, at 7pm UK time. ORIGINAL STORY 1/11/22: Popular Overwatch 2 character Mei has been temporarily disabled by Blizzard due to a game-breaking exploit - and won’t return for two weeks. Mei, one of the game’s damage characters, has an ability called Ice Wall, which projects a huge wall of ice in front of her....
